Trash Polka Tattoo Design

Before they begin they are given an introduction to composition, asymmetrical balance, the rule of 3rds, the figure eight method and rules against kissing (where to objects reside beside each other confusing the eye of their viewer.) Then students are given printed images that reflect the style of Trash Polka where they cut, paste, add red and black marker to, to assemble/create a trash polka design. Once they have completed this exercise they begin design their own original design.
